On Saturday,
June 2nd, IAFF Local #5 hosted
their first Fire OPS 101 event. In
attendance was the Mayor, City
Council, media personalities and
community group leaders. All
participants had the opportunity
to complete a fire attack, a
search and rescue by way of an
aerial ladder to the 3rd floor,
a vehicle extrication and
cardiac arrest management.  The
presentation included topics
ranging from adequate staffing
to response times. The weather
was perfect and all participants
were able to complete each of
the four, 1 hour scenarios
during the event which started
at 1100 and finished at 1500
with a lunch from Rockbottom
Brewery and a fire presentation
from Capt. Russ Renck.
All
participants were presented with
a certificate of completion and
each person was able to take
home their personalized
traditional helmet that had been
provided by Local #5.
