Fire Fighter Safety and Deployment of Resources

In 2005, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided funding to fill a void in scientifically-based studies regarding the effect of different crew sizes and fire fighter arrival times on the effectiveness of the fire service to protect lives and property.

To meet this need, a research partnership was formed to conduct a multiphase study of the deployment of resources as it affects fire fighter and occupant safety.
