Alfred K. Whitehead Legislative ConferenceAlfred K. Whitehead  Legislative Conference

The Alfred K. Whitehead Legislative Conference, held annually in Washington, D.C., highlights the legislative issues important to the fire service. During the conference, attendees meet with their elected representatives to educate them on fire fighter issues and lobby for their support.


Canadian Legislative ConferenceIAFF Canadian Legislative Conference

Canadian fire fighters meet to discuss key legislative issues at this conference held annually in Ottawa, which draws IAFF members from across Canada to conduct lobby meetings with their members of Parliament (MPs) and senators.


IAFF Political Training Academies

Developed through their respective FIREPACs, the U.S. and Canadian IAFF Political Training Academies educate and assist campaign veterans and political newcomers alike on how to run for elected office and manage a political campaign. IAFF members and their families are eligible to apply.

IAFF John P. Redmond Symposium on the Occupational Health & Hazards of the Fire Service in conjunction with the Dominick F. Barbera Emergency Medical Services Conference.

The IAFF and the John P. Redmond Foundation have been on the frontline of every major health and safety initiative in the fire service. The IAFF Redmond Symposium reflects our commitment to explore the cause of every IAFF member’s death, injury or illness and address solutions to further protect our membership.

The Dominick F. Barbera EMS Conference explores all aspects of fire based emergency medical services. From the tenets of emergency response system design and operations, to medical direction and privatization and from quality assessment and data collection to billing for transport, this Conference covers the most relevant topics affecting fire service-based EMS systems.

2011 ALTS Post-Conference

The IAFF Affiliate Leadership Training Summit (ALTS) was held January 17-19, 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona. The 2011 ALTS was the largest to date and drew 1,113 affiliate leaders learning the skills needed to build their local unions.
