NEW: Assisting Our Returning Soldiers
With many members returning from tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, union officers will be facing unique challenges, including mental health and disability concerns, problems returning members to work or calculating their benefits, failure to maintain licenses or certifications, and other difficulties. During this session, IAFF legal counsel will provide an overview of the laws impacting the employment of returning soldiers and information on reintegrating them into civilian life.
NEW: Fair Share Agreements
This session is designed for locals that collect fair share or agency shop fees from their members. During this session, IAFF legal counsel will provide an overview of the legal challenges that may be confronted in collecting such fees and information on IAFF products and services that can assist them with these challenges.
NEW: National Paramedic Institute
The International Association of Fire Fighters has partnered with the National Paramedic Institute (NPI) to offer discounted continuing education credits to the IAFF’s first responders, EMTs, and paramedics. The NPI is the leader in EMS education and provides interactive online modules on a variety of topics including ACLS recertification, CPR recertification, and AED training via their website, www.emsjane.com. During this session, attendees will learn how they can benefit from the courses and services provided by the NPI.
Commission on Fire Accreditation
The purpose of the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) is to assist fire and emergency service agencies throughout the world in achieving excellence through self assessment and accreditation, thereby improving the services they provide to their communities. During this session, attendees will receive an overview of Community Risk Assessment, Standards of Cover, and the CFAI accreditation process.
IAFF- FC Banking Center
This session will highlight the business banking accounts and personal banking products offered by the IAFF-FC Banking Center. Learn how to make your money work harder for you and your members.
Negotiating for the PEHP
Sponsored by the IAFF's Financial Corporation, this session will teach you how to negotiate with your employer to pre-fund the cost of retiree health care expenses with tax-exempt dollars.
Retiree Health Insurance
The IAFF-FC has teamed with UnitedHealthCare to offer a wide spectrum of quality health insurance options to meet the budget and coverage needs to each individual retiree. Small Group Health Insurance plans are also available for those IAFF members who own their own businesses and would like to offer health insurance to their employees.
