The December 2008 ALTS was a huge success. We sincerely appreciate all participants, IAFF staff, PEP instructors, the Phoenix Fire Department, the Phoenix Fire Academy, Sponsors, and the Sheraton Hotel for making this the largest and most successful ALTS to date.
Highlights:
- More than 950 fire fighters attended ALTS — the largest attendance since the program began
- 248 members participated in the New Leadership Seminar pre-conference workshop
- 80 fire fighters received hands-on training at the Fire Ops 101 Train-the-Trainer pre conference workshop at the Pheonix Fire Academy
- More than 40 classes covering current events, pensions, surviving the economic crisis, and much more.
- 66 breakout sessions over two days
- 12 information sessions including writing fire act grants, negotiating for PEHPs (Post Employment Health Plans), and GASB 45
- Corporate sponsor Novartis Pharmaceutical Corporation introduced the Stop*Drop*Control High Blood Pressure (HBP) program.
