Labour College of Canada Intensive Program
The Labour College of Canada will resume its yearly Intensive Program following significant changes to course design and delivery. Beginning in 2010, an Intensive Program will be offered to union activists from across Canada who want to learn about the history of the Canadian labour movement, the political economy, labour law and much more.
Through readings, lectures, discussions, plenary sessions, research, and an examination of the role of activists in the union, program participants will build upon their life and union experiences. Participants will build valuable networks and leave better equipped to continue the struggle for social and economic justice.
The IAFF will select one applicant to participate in the Intensive Program. This scholarship is awarded to IAFF members in good standing with an IAFF Local Affiliate to attend the LCC Residential Program in Ottawa. The award covers the cost of tuition and accommodations (approximately $9,400) and provides $1,000 to cover travel and incidental expenses.
For more information about the Intensive Program visit the Labour College of Canada site. Applications must be submitted directly to the Labour College. Applicants are encouraged to apply electronically.
The application deadline for the 2010 Intensive Program is Tuesday, June 30, 2009. The IAFF will notify the selected candidate by October 1, 2009.
