May 6, 2008 – Colerain Township, OH Local 3915 will hold a benefit June 28, 2008, for the families of Local 3915 member Robin Boxterman and fire fighter Brian Schira, who died in the line of duty in April while responding to a house fire.

“Losing a loved one is hard enough without having to think about how you are going to pay your bills,” says Greg Brown, a member of Colerain Township and the event organizer. “With this benefit, Colerain Township fire fighters hope to give the Broxterman and Schira families financial peace of mind while they grieve.”

The fundraiser, to be held at Germania Park in Cincinnati, from 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., will feature three live bands, a silent auction, door prizes, food and beverages. In addition, the area Warthogs chapter, a fire and police motorcycle club, will hold a benefit ride with Germania Park as the final destination.

On that April morning, Broxterman, 37, and Schira, 29, were in the first unit to arrive at the house fire. The two went inside to look for the source of the fire. Soon after, the home’s floor collapsed. Both fire fighters fell into the basement and became trapped. They died on the scene.

Broxterman is survived by two daughters, 10-year-old Sierra and eight-year-old Courtney, a fiancé and her parents. Schira is survived by his parents and two brothers.
