California Fire Fighters Make Reality TV Debut

June 20, 2006 – Twin fire fighters Mathew and Martin Mullen from Los Angeles City, CA Local 112 made their television debut on NBC’s “Treasure Hunters” June 18. Repeats of the premier episode will air June 23 and June 24 at 8:00 p.m. on NBC. New episode will air Sundays on NBC at 9:00 p.m. eastern time.

Similar to CBS’s “The Amazing Race,” this adventure series features competing teams traveling the world looking for clues that will lead them to the end of the competition. Contestants compete for hidden treasure.

Four-year veteran fire fighters, the Mullen brothers are members of the team “Southie Boys” along with a longtime friend from Boston, Massachusetts. In the premier episode, the Mullen brothers brave the elements of the Artic Circle with four of the other nine teams to find the first clue, buried somewhere in the ice. Meanwhile, the other five teams board the U.S.S. Jefferson in the South Pacific to decipher Morse code as part of their first clue.

After all teams followed the trail of clues, all 10 teams converged in front of the Nebraska State Capitol Building where they learned that teams would be paired together for the next challenge.
