Welcome to IAFFonline
June 2001
Welcome to the IAFF's new web site, IAFFonline. This completely rebuilt
site represents a bold step forward for the International Association of
Fire Fighters. It integrates the needs and wishes of our 245,000 members
(expressed through a survey we published online and in our newspaper), the
collective wisdom of our elected leadership at all levels, and the
expertise of our professional staff.
For the last six months we have worked tirelessly to assemble a site
loaded with news and information, researchable resources, and the
knowledge of our headquarters staff in Washington, DC and Ottawa, Ont.
The web team I appointed has also worked hard with IAFF General
Secretary-Treasurer Bollon and our 16 District Vice Presidents to make
sure that we respect the security of all our data and the ability of local
presidents and District Vice Presidents to approve all requests for
assistance from the IAFF staff.
It is important for you to look at this site as the beginning of a new
phase for this International. We've done our best to make this site easy
to use, easy to look at, and easy to improve. We welcome your feedback and
hope to hear from you often as we work together to make the site even
better. Just drop us an email at web@iaff.org.
Since 1918, the IAFF has dedicated itself to promoting and supporting
the profession of fire fighting. The Internet adds a completely new
dimension to this timeless mission, and I am committed to taking all our
efforts in this area to even higher levels in the coming months and years.
Fraternally,
Harold Schaitberger, General President
