Line-of-Duty Death Announcements
Unfortunately, emergency responders must sometimes make the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their job. This section of the Web site is dedicated to announce, honor and memorialize our members that die in the line-of-duty.
It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Kevin Hegarty of IAFF Local 1271 - Surrey, British Columbia. Brother Hegarty, 53, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from a stress-related illness.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Portal Alliance Church, 15128 27B Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia V4P 1P2, (604) 531-4733 Following the service, a reception will be held in the Church gymnasium.
We encourage all members to carpool. The closest additional parking available is at South Surrey Athletic Park (2200 block on 148th Street) approximately 2.5 km away. There is some street parking available in the surrounding area.

Daryl E. Gordon
It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Driver/Operator Daryl E. Gordon of IAFF Local 48 - Cincinnati, Ohio. Brother Gordon, 54, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015 from a fall during rescue at a fire.
The Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Duke Energy Convention Center, 525 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202, (513) 419-7300. Parking garages and street parking is available throughout the city. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral, 325 W. 8th Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. The interment will be held immediately after the funeral service at Oak Hill Cemetery, 11200 Princeton Park, Cincinnati, Ohio. There is limited parking, so transportation to and from the cemetery will be provided for uniformed fire fighters. After the Cemetery Service, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Duke Energy Convention Center.

Rick D. Winship
It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Rick D. Winship of IAFF Local 781 - Independence, Missouri. Brother Winship, 54, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015 from esophageal cancer.
The Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 East 39th Street,
Independence, Missouri 64055, (816) 373-3600. The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Stone Church Community of Christ, 1012 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, Missouri. The family has requested the Local 781 Honor Guard only and no large Fire Department Procession at the Memorial Service.
