WELCOME
The
IAFF is committed to protecting the health and safety of fire fighters
and EMS personnel so that you can continue to serve your community and
protect your fire fighters and their families. We maintain our education
programs as a priority in the ongoing fight against the spread of bloodborne
diseases. Last year we supported and promoted the awareness program, "Protect
Yourself from Hepatitis C & Other Bloodborne Diseases." This project continues
with "Hepatitis C: You can't see it, smell it, or feel it…," which explains
the disease more fully, reviews the testing process, and discusses treatment
options. The information is strengthened by the real-life stories of fire
fighters and EMS personnel from around the country.
While fire
fighters and EMS providers are willing to risk their lives to save the
lives of others, we must also be concerned with the silent dangers that
threaten not only the community at large, but also our friends, our families,
and ourselves.
The program
you have now received is a tremendous instrument-we encourage you to use
it to the greatest extent you can.
