FIRE-BASED EMS
EMS: Under Fire

“Fire-based EMS is – and will continue to be – the most efficient and effective system for responding to medical emergencies and improving overall public safety. The IAFF is engaged at all levels of government to assure that appropriately trained and equipped personnel are available to respond to all types of emergencies.”

Harold A. Schaitberger
General President

The 9th Biennial Dominick F. Barbera EMS Conference will explore all aspects of fire-based emergency medical services. Participants choose from among more than 20 workshops offered throughout the three-day program, as well as hear from inspirational speakers during the opening and closing plenary sessions.

Pre-Conference Session: Fire Ops 101
June 23 • 7:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Bring your local elected officials and other decision makers to Fire Ops 101 to participate in basic fire ground operations and experience the skills required and the risks inherent to professional fire fighting and emergency medical response. The program, to be held in conjunction with the IAFF EMS Conference on Saturday, June 23 at the Houston Fire Department Training Academy, is designed to give these decision makers a greater understanding and appreciation of what it is to be a fire fighter and the importance of providing first responders with the training, equipment and other resources needed to do the job.

There is no additional registration fee for the Fire Ops 101 event, however, space is limited and participants will be registered on a first-come basis. Don’t wait…register for the EMS Conference and reserve your place in Fire Ops 101 at (202) 824-1594.
