1. When and where will the International Association of Fire Fighters 49th Convention take place?
The IAFF 2008 Convention is scheduled for August 10-15, 2008, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

2. When will Convention Call be sent to affiliates?
The IAFF Convention Call was sent February 25, 2008, to IAFF affiliates and included the dates and location of the IAFF 2008 Convention, as well as Convention registration costs, entitlement of representation and resolution procedures. View Convention Call here.

3. When and how do I make hotel reservations?
The IAFF Convention headquarters hotel, the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, is sold out. You may still view or modify your current reservation through the Rio's housing web page by Clicking Here and using your confirmation code or by contacting the call center at (888) 746-6955. The Caesar's Palace has been chosen as the Convention overflow hotel, located at 3570 Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada.  The Caesar's Palace special room rate for IAFF delegates is $152 per night and is available through July 18.  The overflow hotel is one mile from the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino and has free shuttle service operating every half hour.  You may begin making reservations at the Caesar's Palace by clicking on the Hotel Reservations link on the IAFF Convention Hotel Reservation page and following the link to the IAFF's overflow hotel page.

4. How do I get my credentials and housing form?
The IAFF mailed credentials and hotel reservation forms April 1 to all affiliates that have paid per capita through March 2008. This means that your local's per capita and EDF loan payments must be paid in full through March 31, 2008. Also, per capita tax and EDF loans must be paid through and including June 2008 to be entitled to representation at Convention.

6. What is the headquarters hotel?
The IAFF Convention headquarters hotel is the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, 3700 West Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, Nevada. The IAFF Convention will also be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel.

7. What is the Rio All-Suite Hotel room rate for the IAFF 49th Convention?
The rate for a single/double suite at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino is $152 per night. Specialty and hospitality suites begin at $450 per night and are available on a first come basis. Caesar's Palace, the IAFF Convention overflow hotel, is honoring the same room rate as the headquarters hotel until July 18.

8. How do I reserve a specialty or hospitality suite?
A limited number of specialty and hospitality suites are available at the Rio, ranging in price from $450 to $700 per night plus tax, depending on suite type.  If you are interested in reserving specialty or hospitality suites, please call (702) 777-6448 or send an email to jgagne@lvrio.harrahs.com.  If emailing, your request will be addressed within two business days.  Suite availability is based on a first come basis.  Do not contact the IAFF directly for suite reservations.

9. What is required to cross the United States border and return to Canada?
Canadians traveling to the United States by air require a valid Canadian passport. Canadians traveling by land require a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, plus a birth certificate or citizen card or a valid passport.

Canadians re-entering Canada by air will require a valid Canadian passport. Canadians re-entering Canada by land require proper identification, including a Canadian passport, a Canadian birth certificate, a permanent residence card, a citizenship card or a certificate of Indian status.

The IAFF recommends using a passport to avoid complications in and out of customs.
