Hamtramck Local Participates in Annual Saint Florian March and Mass 

April 11, 2008 – Hamtramck, MI Local 750 invites all IAFF members to participate in the 10th Annual Saint Florian March and Mass May 3, 2008.

The Mass is special because it not only celebrates the feast of Saint Florian, the patron saint of fire fighters, it is also part of the St. Florian Church Parish’s year-long centennial celebration.

The March begins at 3:00 p.m. at the Hamtramck Fire Station and will proceed to St. Florian Church to celebrate the 4:00 p.m. Mass. Following the March and Mass, the Parish invites all participants and their guests to the 40th Annual Strawberry Festival, also taking place that weekend. The event features food, drinks and entertainment. In addition, the Parish is providing vouchers for a free dinner to all participants.

Fire fighters who wish to participate must arrive before 3:00 p.m. so the March can start on time. All participants are encouraged to wear their uniforms -- Class A dress is preferred. Any department with an honor guard that would like to participate is welcome, as well as any department that would like to include a piece of apparatus in the procession to church.
