Registration Opens April 1 for Portland Firefighter Stairclimb
March 22, 2013 – Portland, OR Local 43 is hosting its 5th Annual Portland Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge to raise money for the Oregon chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on September 22, 2013. Last year, almost 300 fire fighters from across the country raised $124, 487 for the Foundation.
Registration opens April 1. The first 50 participants to register online will receive a Leatherman Z-REX rescue tool.
Participating fire fighters will wear full response gear, including PPEs, as they race up the 40 flights of stairs of the U.S. Bancorp Tower in downtown Portland.
The event was founded by retired Local 43 fire fighter Wes Loucks after both his grandsons were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States.
