Mississauga Local 1212's Benevolent Fund Contributes $100,000 to Local Hospital

December 13, 2012 – Mississauga, ON Local 1212 through its non-profit - the Mississauga Firefighters Benevolent Fund- presented the Credit Valley Hospital Foundation with a $100,000 gift during the Foundation's recent Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

The benevolent fund has been a dedicated supporter of the Foundation since 1985, raising a total of $329,663 to date. This additional gift of $100,000 will make a significant impact on the Phase III expansion of Trillium Health Partners, Credit Valley Hospital site.

The Phase III project at Credit Valley Hospital will meet some immediate needs at the facility. An expanded critical care unit will nearly double in size with the addition of eight new beds. Five new operating rooms will be added with expanded recovery areas for both inpatient and day surgery, and a state of the art surgical robotics program will be established in the surgical unit. In addition, the emergency department will be significantly redeveloped.

“We are so grateful to the Mississauga Firefighters Benevolent Fund for their generous gift and dedicated support of the Credit Valley Hospital for over twenty-five years,” says Credit Valley Hospital Foundation President and CEO Kathy Hay. “The Mississauga Fire Fighters are community leaders and essential to the safety and wellbeing of those in the Peel Region. For this, and for their gift, we thank them.”

Through the Mississauga Firefighters Benevolent Fund, Local 1212 works hard to raise money to make donations to various charities and medical facilities as a way to give back to the community.
