Mississauga Local 1212's Benevolent Fund Contributes $100,000
to Local Hospital
December 13, 2012 – Mississauga, ON Local 1212 through its
non-profit - the Mississauga Firefighters Benevolent Fund- presented the
Credit Valley Hospital Foundation with a $100,000 gift during the
Foundation's recent Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
The benevolent fund has been a dedicated supporter of
the Foundation since 1985, raising a total of $329,663 to date. This additional
gift of $100,000 will make a significant impact on the Phase III expansion of
Trillium Health Partners, Credit Valley Hospital site.
The Phase III project at Credit Valley Hospital will meet some immediate needs
at the facility.
An expanded critical care unit will nearly double in size with the addition of
eight new beds. Five new operating rooms will be added with expanded recovery
areas for both inpatient and day surgery, and a state of the art surgical
robotics program will be established in the surgical unit. In addition, the
emergency department will be
significantly redeveloped.
“We are so grateful to the Mississauga Firefighters Benevolent Fund for their
generous gift and dedicated support of the Credit Valley Hospital for over
twenty-five years,” says Credit Valley Hospital Foundation President and
CEO Kathy Hay. “The Mississauga Fire Fighters are community leaders and
essential to the safety and wellbeing of those in the Peel Region. For this, and
for their gift, we thank them.”
Through the Mississauga Firefighters Benevolent Fund, Local 1212 works hard to
raise money to make donations to various charities and medical facilities as a
way to give back to the community.
