Seven Ohio Fire Fighters Become ‘Fowl Fighters’
October 26, 2010 – About two years ago, seven members of Greenville, OH Local
1101 wondered about how many fire fighters are sportsmen and why there was no
fire fighter network specific to hunting waterfowl. That’s when the
Firefighters
Waterfowl Association was born.
This is not a hunting club or guide service. It’s a forum for fire fighters to
discuss tactics, strategies and hunting gear. In fact, the Fowl Fighters, as
they sometimes call themselves, have developed apparel and their own custom
acrylic goose call called “The Inferno.”
“The end goal here is to establish a reputation for endorsing or creating
quality hunting gear,” says Chip Fashner, a member of Local 1101 and
spokesperson for the Fowl Fighters.
Their next project under development is a “how to” DVD, which will be formatted
much like the sportsmen shows seen on various outdoor-themed networks. The Fowl
Fighters hope to release it early next year.
The members of the Firefighters Waterfowl Association are also members of the
Union Sportsmen Alliance. |
