September 11 Benefit Fund Creates 10th Anniversary
Commemorative Coin
August
11, 2010 – The
September 11th
Anniversary Benefit Fund has produced a commemorative coin to honor and
remember the events of September 11, 2001, and the sacrifices made by the
members of the FDNY on that historic day. All funds raised through the sale of
this coin will be used to support the activities of three charitable
organizations: The W5 Firefighters World Trade Center Memorial Fund, which
maintains a World Trade Center monument in Orange County, New York, and presents
college scholarships to high school graduates; The FDNY Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 12033, which has been a steadfast supporter of the rehabilitation of
disabled veterans from Brooke, Walter Reed and Bethesda Hospitals and have
assisted the widows and orphans of disabled and needy veterans and promoted
Americanism through education in patriotism and service to the community of New
York City; and the New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation, a 501(c)(3)
public charity founded in 1975 by fire fighters and dedicated to the advancement
of burn care, research, prevention, education and the proper treatment of burns.
The September 11th Anniversary Benefit Fund was established to
coincide with the 10th anniversary of the attacks at the World Trade Center in
New York City on September 11, 2001. The fund was established for a single
reason -- to assist other charitable organizations with the important work and
activities that they perform in their various groups. These groups are related
to 9/11, fire fighter health and safety and U.S. military veterans.
Founded by a group including several FDNY fire fighters, this new organization
will be involved in several fundraising operations over the next several years.
All of the proceeds from these fundraising events will be donated directly to
these charitable funds for use on their worthy projects and activities.
The 10-year anniversary commemorative coin honoring the sacrifices of the FDNY
on September 11, 2001 is $20 and is a tax-deductible donation.
