Waterbury Calendar Raises Dollars for Children’s Burn Camp
August 2, 2010 – Waterbury, CT Local 1339 fire fighters are working hard to make
sure that young burn surivors can attend the Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp
located in Union, Connecticut. For four years, Local 1339 has produced a
calendar with all proceeds benefiting the camp. Waterbury fire fighters recently
presented a check for last year’s fundraising total of $18,000 to camp
organizers.
“Many of our fire fighters have served as camp counselors, so we know what a
great camp it is,” says Local 1339 member Troy Poynton, who helps organize the
fundraising efforts. “We are proud of the fact that our calendar enables a few
children each year to attend the camp free of charge.”
The 2010 calendar is still available and organizers are beginning work on the
2011 calendar. Each year, it features a different Local 1339 fire fighter for
each month. For more about the calendar, visit the Waterbury Fire Fighters’
Calendar web site.
