Company Donates $100,000 in Furniture to Nashville Fire
Fighters
July 22, 2010 – After severe flooding in May 2010 displaced
dozens of Nashville, TN Local 140 fire fighters, the IAFF and Local 140 have
been working to help them repair their homes or find new places to live. And
recently, one furniture company – Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams -- donated
$100,000 in furniture to the fire fighters.
After executives from the North Carolina-based furniture company
heard about the devastation caused to some fire fighter homes, they reached out
to Nashville Local 140 and offered sofas, chairs, loveseats and tables.
“The generosity of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams is just
incredible,” says Local 140 President Gary Moore. “So many of our members lost
everything and replacing big ticket items like sofas has been difficult. We
really appreciate what they have done.”
The company organized a day to bring the furniture to union
headquarters. Fire fighters and their families were able to select which items
they wanted and have them delivered to their homes.
A video from the event is available on the
Local 140 web site.
