iPhone Shift Calendar App Available for Fire Fighters
April 19, 2010 – As mobile devices become more than just a
phone, it was only a matter of time before a fire fighter shift calendar
application was developed. Chase Henslee, the son of Mesquite, TX Local 1518
fire fighter Clay Henslee, was one of the first to create the application.
Chase is not a fire fighter, but, as a fire fighter’s son, he
knows that shift calendars can dictate the schedule for an entire family.
“My main focus in developing the calendar was to make it
adjustable for a variety of fire fighter schedules -- whether it was for 24
on/48 off or something different,” he says.
Henslee is trained in both computer and electrical engineering,
but he has a special knack for computer programming. Over the course of six
months, he used his free time to develop the application before submitting it to
Apple for approval.
Now that the application has been approved, it can be purchased
through iTunes or the iPhone App stores for 99 cents by searching for
“Firefighter and EMS Calendar.”
“As I get feedback, I’m making improvements to the calendar,”
says Henslee. “Anyone who has already purchased the application can update the
app for free.”
