Three Fire Fighter-Friendly Candidates Elected in Florida

March 19, 2010 – Palm Harbor/Oldsmar Professional Fire Fighters Local 2980 in Florida endorsed one mayoral candidate and two City Council candidates for the City of Oldsmar. Thanks to Local 2980’s dedicated campaigning, Mayor Jim Ronecker will be serving his second term and Janice Miller and Linda Norris won seats on the City Council March 9.

“We chose these candidates based on their commitment to public safety,” says Local 2980 District Vice President Jason Schwabe, who represents Oldsmar fire fighters.

During his first term, Mayor Ronecker maintained a record of fire fighter support, even increasing staffing levels to accommodate a new rescue unit. Miller also proved her commitment to public safety during her previous terms as a City Council member, and newcomer Norris has pledged her dedication.

Local 2980 assisted their campaigns by going door-to-door, distributing literature and working the polls on Election Day.
