British Columbia Fire Fighter to Carry Olympic Torch

January 15, 2010 – Former Terrace, BC Local 2685 President David Jephson will be carrying the Olympic Torch for the Vancouver 2010 games on February 1. Jephson was nominated for the honor because of his long-standing contribution to his community.

He will carry the Torch for one-quarter of a mile, or 300 meters, to Terrace City Hall. Current Terrace Local 2685 President Lawrence Stella says, “We are a small local, so we all know Dave very well. We couldn’t be more proud of his accomplishments.”

Jephson is a 17- year veteran fire fighter and IAFF member, serving seven years as president of Local 2685. Additionally, he is a member of Terrace’s Search and Rescue Team and is especially knowledgeable in water rescue strategies.
