Broward County Fire Fighters Rescue Dozens From Flooding
December 22, 2009 – Severe thunderstorms barreled across
southern Florida December 17-18, dumping 24 inches of rain on the region and
causing widespread flooding.
One Broward County, FL Local 4321 fire station received 146
flood-related calls, including a call to the Bamboo Village Mobile Home Park.
“The waters were so high that our fire fighters had to answer
the call by boat,” says Local 4321 President Walt Dix. “They rescued more than a
dozen families and helped get them to a nearby American Red Cross shelter.” Two
other mobile home parks in the area were also evacuated by fire fighters.
No injuries were reported during the evacuations.
