Bullhead City Fire Fighters to Begin First MOU Negotiations
December
4, 2009 – Bullhead City, Arizona, fire fighters – represented by Colorado River
Professional Fire Fighters Local 3647 – have become one of the latest IAFF
affiliates to gain meet and confer rights.
The Bullhead City Fire Board voted unanimously in favor of the
bargaining rights on November 19. “Meet and confer has increasingly been proven
to be a successful way to resolve labor-management issues across the state,”
says Local 3647 President John Kelley. “We knew it was the right thing to do and
so did our Fire Board.”
Bullhead City fire fighters have been working toward meet and
confer since 1995. This year, with assistance from the Professional Fire
Fighters of Arizona, the local made its case in front of the Fire Board.
More than 80 fire fighters will benefit from Local 3647’s first
memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Fire Board. Negotiations begin in
February. A final agreement is expected by the end of April.
