Florida Fire Fighters Announce Gubernatorial Endorsement
November 30, 2009 – The Florida Professional Firefighters (FPF) are endorsing
Alex Sink – the current Chief Financial Officer at the State Fire Marshal office
– for governor in 2010. The FPF launched its campaign efforts with a special
meet-and-greet fundraiser in Jacksonville, Florida.
“We announced our endorsement early because Sink has demonstrated her commitment
to the fire service and public safety in her work in the fire marshal’s office,”
says FPF President Bob Carver.
The fundraiser, hosted by Jacksonville Local 122, was well-attended, including
Sink and U.S. Senator Bill Nelson. Fire fighters also unveiled a campaign banner
from Local 122’s six-story fire tower, which is now seen by 120,000 motorists
daily.
Florida fire fighters will don the traditional gold-and-black “Fire Fighters
For” T-shirts, host additional fundraisers and other grassroots campaign
strategies. Showing her allegiance and trust in fire fighters, Sink has
requested that fire fighters be her drivers for her campaign appearances.
