Connecticut Fire Fighters Make Special MDA Presentation

November 20, 2009 – Danbury, CT Local 801 fire fighters presented a check for $18,770 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at a special ceremony at the United Savings Bank of Danbury on November 17.

Every year, Local 801 fills the boot on several occasions between July and September. The check amount reflects the total amount raised during the local’s 2009 Fill-the-Boot campaign.

In addition to presenting the official check to MDA, Local 801 fire fighters also presented a plaque to the bank. “Every year, the bank counts the Fill-the-Boot donations free of charge, so we wanted to do something special to let them know that we appreciate their efforts,” says Local 801 President Lou DeMici.

The plaque was designed by a child who regularly attends the local MDA camp.
