November 16, 2009 – Thanks to the staunch support of Danbury, CT Local 801 fire fighters,
Mayor Mark Boughton will be serving a fifth two-year term. On election day,
Boughton earned 66 percent of the vote, defeating his opponent -- Gary Goncalves.
Local 801 lent its endorsement after the mayor demonstrated a
proven fire fighter-friendly record. “We believe that his leadership has helped
ensure the health and safety of our brothers and sisters and our fellow
citizens,” says Local 801 President Lou DeMici. “We were proud to stand behind
him as he has stood behind us.”
Along with the announcement of the endorsement, Local 801 fire
fighters also launched a grassroots campaign that included the gold and black
“fire fighters for” T-shirts, phone banking and staffing the polls on election
day.
The Professional Fire Fighters of Danbury represent 120 fire
fighters in the City of Danbury.
