Sierra Fire Fighters Host Charity Triple Threat Challenge
September 21, 2009 – Sierra, NV Local 3895 fire fighters are increasing their charitable efforts by hosting the 2009 Sierra Fire Fighters Triple Threat Challenge at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada, October 2-4, 2009.
The “triple threat” includes the SCOTT Firefighters Challenge on October 2, the Dodgeball Tournament on October 3 and the Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament on October 4.
The SCOTT Firefighters Challenge is held in 25 locations annually and requires fire fighters to wear full bunker gear and the SCOTT Air-Pak breathing apparatus as they perform a linked series of five tasks, including climbing the five-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses and rescuing a life-sized, 175-pound "victim.”
Participants do not have to be a fire fighter to be in the dodgeball or poker tournaments. Those participating in both the Combat Challenge and the Dodgeball Tournament will be invited to the Meet and Greet Friday, October 2 at 5:00 p.m.
All proceeds will go to Local 3895’s charitable fund. Money raised is donated to various local charities throughout the year. Click here to register for the events (deadline for the Dodgeball Tournament is September 30). For more information, contact Casey Jaggers at (775) 527-9761.
