gold medals for weight lifting in the last month. The first he won during the
World Police and Fire Games in Vancouver, British Columbia. Smith earned the
others at the Nevada Police and Fire Games.
“Our local could not be more proud of Smith’s accomplishments,”
says Brian Foughty, president of Moore Local 2047. “He has been training hard
since he entered his very first competition last year. His persistence and
dedication has paid off.”
Smith, a 15-year veteran fire fighter, joined more than 13,000

After leaving the World Games, Smith went on to Las Vegas,
Nevada, to participate in the Nevada Police and Fire Games in the individual and
five-person team events. His teammates included Oklahoma City police officers
and fellow members of the Oklahoma Police and Fire Athletics Association.
In the Nevada games, Smith took two gold medals. The first was
for the Bench Press where he lifted 363.7 pounds (165 kilos) and the second for
the Push/Pull where he lifted 914.7 pounds (415 kilos). He achieved both gold
medals in just two lifts.
The 2011 World Police and Fire Games will be held in New York
City where Smith plans to be there to represent Moore Local 2047 and his state,
