Seattle Fire Fighters Announce Mayoral Endorsement

September 1, 2009 – Seattle, WA Local 27 fire fighters are throwing their support behind Joe Mallahan, candidate for mayor. The official announcement was made during a press conference September 1.

“After taking a close look at both candidates, it was clear to us that Mallahan was a great supporter of fire fighters and public safety,” says Seattle Local 27 President Kenny Stuart.

Even as the City of Seattle looks for ways to cut the budget, Mallahan has pledged to maintain four-person crews for all fire engines. Additionally, he plans to assist injured fire fighters who have difficulty obtaining medical coverage.

Mallahan, who has also been endorsed by the Seattle Police Officers Guild, will face Mike McGuinn in the November general election.
