Ohio Fire Fighters Save Life
April 16, 2009 – A Lima, Ohio, man escaped his burning home
thanks to the help of Lima Local 334 fire fighters.
“I am very proud of the professionalism and dedication to duty
our members displayed,” says Sean D. Carpenter, president of Lima, OH Local 334.
“Because of their quick response, teamwork, training and up-to-date equipment, a
Lima citizen is alive today.”
Local 334 fire fighters responded to an afternoon structure fire
on Haller Street. Once on the scene, witnesses said someone was still trapped
inside. Fire fighters Jack Ulrich and Bill Greeley quickly grabbed a thermal
imager and entered the home.
The two waded through waist-high smoke, searching for the
trapped person. Seconds later, they found Jeffrey Warren, unconscious in his
bedroom, and dragged him outside to safety.
Local 334 fire fighter/paramedics Scott Fry and Jeff Thompson
took over and began treating Warren for smoke inhalation. Warren was transported
to the hospital, but was released that night in good health.
