Alabama Fire Fighters Auction Signed Helmet for MDA

August 21, 2008 – Like many IAFF locals, Orange Beach, AL Local 4309 is dedicated to raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). This year, members found a unique way to raise dollars.

Local 4309 fire fighters are auctioning a fire helmet on eBay signed by musicians Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift, Willie Nelson, Montgomery Gentry, Brooks and Dunn, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Rodney Atkins, Lee Greenwood, Rick Springfield and Eddie Money. The helmet was donated by Orange Beach Fire Chief Forne Howard.

“For safety purposes, we staff all events at the new Wharf Amphitheater,” says Kevin Lanford, spokesperson for Local 4309. “Through our working relationship, we were able to coordinate with the amphitheater’s management to obtain the signatures. Knowing it is for a good cause, a lot of the celebrities were very willing to do it.”
