Cincinnati Fire Fighter’s Condition Worsens

July 9, 2008 – The life of an IAFF HazMat/WMD Training Instructor and Cincinnati, OH Local 48 member is hanging in the balance. Since Bobby Shelton learned he needed a kidney transplant earlier this year, efforts to find a donor have been unsuccessful. Now, his condition is deteriorating.

Shelton, a 17-year veteran fire fighter, suffers from diabetes and hypertension, which led to chronic kidney disease several years ago. Doctors have recommended a transplant, and are hoping a kidney will become available before more drastic treatment becomes necessary.

While some friends have offered their kidneys, none has been a match for Shelton. He is also on a donor list, but the wait could be longer than two years. As his condition worsens, waiting for the transplant becomes increasingly risky.

For more information, or to be tested for a medical match, contact Shelton at (513) 484-0322 or email robertshelton@fuse.net.
