Register for Carlsbad Stop, Drop and Reel Tournament

April 28, 2008 – Carlsbad, CA Local 3730 is holding its 6th Annual Stop, Drop and Reel Fire Fighter Charity Halibut Tournament June 14, 2008, at the San Diego Marlin Club. Proceeds benefit the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Regional Burn Center’s Brave Heart Kids Program.

The competition is open to all, but each boat must have at least one active-duty or retired fire fighter in the crew. All fish must be weighed between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m. The San Marcos, CA Local 4184 team won last year’s tournament with a halibut weighing 30.5 pounds.

The entry fee is $50 per person, which includes a T-shirt, grab bag and barbeque. In addition, there is an optional $50 per boat side jackpot for first and second place payout. To register, visit the Stop, Drop and Reel web site.

The Brave Heart Kids Program assists children and adolescents with burns in developing positive coping skills. Peer-to-peer support opportunities and mentoring are available through activities, including youth field trips, a family support picnic and a parent and youth seminar.
