Boat Raffle Benefiting Wounded Warrior Project Begins June 1

April 25, 2008 – The Florida Professional Firefighters (FPF) is launching a major fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project, a charitable organization dedicated to assisting injured veterans. FPF will raffle a 16-foot fiberglass fishing boat appropriately named, “The Boat of Heroes,” loaded with a GPS fishfinder, trolling motor and additional accessories.

Tickets are $5 each and officially go on sale June 1. Online ticket pre-sales start May 10 on The Boat of Heroes web site.

According to Mark Treglio, charity raffle organizer and member of Jacksonville, FL Local 122, also beginning June 1, the boat will be made available to Florida locals to display at community events. . “It’s an opportunity for our affiliates to draw positive attention to fire fighters and the many things they do for the community, including raising money for our wounded soldiers,” says Treglio.

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) assists returning soldiers in obtaining prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs and rehabilitation. The WWP also provides recreational outings for these soldiers.

The boat will be available for public viewing at the FPF Convention during the week of June 10, 2008. The drawing is August 24.
