Louisiana Fire Fighter Dedicates Song to Charleston 9
February
25, 2008 – Eight months after nine Charleston, South Carolina, fire fighters
made the ultimate sacrifice fighting the Sofa Super Store fire, IAFF members are
working to make sure no one ever forgets what happened on that tragic day. Bob
Landry, a 25-year veteran fire captain and member of Sulphur, LA Local 3765, has
released a new CD, Solid Ground, that includes a song inspired by the
Charleston nine.
“When those nine fire fighters lost their l ives,
it really struck a cord with me,” recalls Landry. “Writing ‘Unsung Heroes’ was
my way of remembering them and making sure others do as well.”
Using studio musicians from Nashville, Tennessee, Landry
recorded Solid Ground late last year and released it in February. The
recording is available at cdbaby.com
and Landry’s MYSPACE page.
“Unsung Heroes” was featured at the Fire Fighter Memorial
Service during the 62nd Annual Professional Fire Fighters Association of
Louisiana (PFFALA) Convention in Houma, Louisiana, February 21-23, 2008.
