Arizona Fire Fighter Competes on “Survivor: Micronesia”
January
22, 2008 – Tune in to CBS for the premier of “Survivor: Micronesia” February 7,
2008, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time as Phoenix, AZ Local 493 fire fighter Joel
Anderson will compete to become the second IAFF member to win the reality show
contest.
Anderson, 32, will put his survival skills to the test against
19 other castaways from across the United States. For this season’s Survivor, 10
ultra-fans will be pitted against 10 former competitors.
The setting is the Rock Islands of Palau, Micronesia, a set of
small islands in the North Pacific Ocean located about three-quarters of the way
between Hawaii and Indonesia.
Anderson believes the skills he has learned on the job will
ultimately give him the edge he needs to be the next Survivor.
If Anderson does come out on top, he will be the second IAFF
member to win. FDNY fire fighter and IAFF Local 854 member Tom Westman was the
winner of “Survivor: Palau” and $1 million in 2005.
