Wisconsin Holds First Statewide FIRE OPS 101
July 7, 2006 – In conjunction with the 71st
Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin (PFFW) Convention in
Green Bay, Wisconsin, host local Green Bay Professional Fire
Fighters Local 141 held the first statewide FIRE OPS 101
program.
“After seeing the success FIRE OPS 101 had at the IAFF EMS
Conference in Las Vegas, we wanted to bring the program here,” says Jay Selissen,
President of Local 141. “With several of our affiliates participating, we had a
great first year.”
On Sunday, June 11, the day before the official beginning of the
convention, all PFFW affiliates were encouraged to send one IAFF member to help
with each evolution and bring along their city leaders. Locals that participated
included Beaver Dam Local 3432, Beloit Local 583, Neenah/Menasha Local 275,
Stevens Point Local 484 and Wausau Local 415.
Participants were run through evolutions demonstrating firsthand
what it’s like to handle an EMS response, Incident Command, Search and Rescue,
Ventilation and Fire Suppression (flashover simulator in a burn room).
Local 141 member Keith Bassett took pictures from the day.
