San Francisco Fire Fighters Get Parity with Police
June 29, 2006 – San Francisco, CA Local 798
fire fighters will have pay parity with San Francisco police
officers beginning July 1, 2006 thanks to the parity
provision in their new contract with the city and county of
San Francisco.
“With this new contract provision, the city and Mayor Gavin
Newsom have made it clear that they appreciate what we do,” says John Hanley,
President of San Francisco Local 798. “We have a close knit relationship with
the police officers because we both serve and protect the city and the county.
“In addition, we are already on the same pension system as the
police officers,” continues Hanley. “It only makes sense that we have parity in
wages, as well.”
The contract expires June 30, 2007.
