that is well shot and on message. She concludes that these
annual Fire Ops days for politicians and the media ensure that
fire resources “will be a hot topic at future budget meetings.”

SECOND PLACE:
“Hidden Risk”
A fire fighter died after falling into a basement when
engineered-wood I-joists gave way in the new construction. The
town of Shadeland then began to campaign for tightened state
building codes. A simulation in this story illustrated the
respective burning times of solid wood and engineered-wood
I-joists.
