Frequently Asked Questions

1. When and where will the International Association of Fire Fighters 49th Convention take place?
The IAFF 2008 Convention is scheduled for August 10-15, 2008, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

2. When will Convention Call be sent to affiliates?
The IAFF Convention Call was sent February 25, 2008, to IAFF affiliates and included the dates and location of the IAFF 2008 Convention, as well as Convention registration costs, entitlement of representation and resolution procedures. View Convention Call here.

3. When and how do I make hotel reservations?

The Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino will begin taking reservations for the IAFF 2008 Convention in April.  In order to preserve the IAFF block for Convention delegates, a code is required to make hotel reservations at the Rio All-Suite Hotel. Please see the housing form found inside the delegate credentials packet for the code and hotel contact information.  Locals who have received their housing form will be able to reserve rooms through the IAFF web site, by telephone and by fax with a credit card or check . Please do not contact the IAFF headquarters for the housing code-it will not be given over the telephone.

When you have received your credentials, you may make hotel reservations here by using the code found on the housing form.

4. How do I get my credentials and housing form?
The IAFF mailed credentials and hotel reservation forms April 1 to all affiliates that have paid per capita through March 2008. This means that your local's per capita and EDF loan payments must be paid in full through March 31, 2008. Also, per capita tax and EDF loans must be paid through and including June 2008 to be entitled to representation at Convention.

The housing form that will be mailed with your local's credentials in April will include additional information on IAFF Convention housing rates.

8. How do I reserve a specialty or hospitality suite?
Information on specialty and hospitality suites will be provided on the housing form that will be sent to your local in April. Rates will range between $450 and $700 per day, depending on suite type.  Due to limited inventory these suites will be available on a first come basis.
