IAFF Mourns Local 771 Secretary Dale Clinton
November 16, 2012 -- The International Association of Fire Fighters and Saint John, N.B. Local 771 are sad to announce the death of Local 771 Secretary Dale Clinton, who died in an accident Friday while attending the IAFF’s Canadian Political Training Academy in Ottawa.
“Our deepest condolences go out to Dale’s family and friends and his brothers
and sisters in Saint John,” says IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger, who had greeted Clinton and other CPTA delegates earlier in the week. “We are all saddened by this tragedy.”
In announcing that the final day of the academy was suspended due to the tragedy, IAFF Assistant to the General President for Canadian Operations Scott Marks noted Clinton’s dedication to his union and to political action.
Clinton, who was 39, was one of 21 Canadian IAFF members in Ottawa for the Canadian Political Training Academy. The IAFF is working with Local 771 and with Clinton’s family on necessary arrangements. Ottawa Local 162 is also assisting. Information about funeral arrangements will be released as it becomes available.
