MDA Telethon Scheduled for September 5-6

August 26, 2010– The 2010 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon is scheduled for September 5-6, 2010, and will be broadcast live from the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Telethon will air on more than 170 television stations and on the MDA web site.

For the past 56 years, the IAFF has been the largest contributor to MDA.

“Last year alone, we donated $28.5 million for MDA to fund research that is developing effective treatments and working toward a cure,” says IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger, who will present this year’s check. “The IAFF is very proud that its membership can contribute not only dollars, but also our time to various MDA camps and events.”

Each year fire fighters Fill the Boot and conduct other MDA fundraisers to help make possible a nationwide network of specialized medical clinics, financial assistance, expensive assistive equipment, support groups, informative publications and, of course, accessible summer camps for kids.
