Publishing Error Leads to Policy Change

July 19, 2010 -- The list of suspended locals published on page 5 of the May-June issue of the International Fire Fighter incorrectly identified the following locals by the names of the cities in their mailing addresses -- not by their official names. This was a publishing error, as our membership records accurately reflect the official names of each of these locals. We apologize for the error.

Local 3994, Perth Amboy EMS was listed as Keasbey, NJ

Local 4154, Salem County, NJ was listed as Pennsville, NJ

Local 3746, Woodlawn, OH was listed as Cincinnati, OH

Local 4239, San Antonio Professional Fire Mechanics was listed as San Antonio, TX

Local 4124, Crystal Coast was listed as Beaufort, NC

Local 3978, Forestdale was listed as Birmingham, AL

Local F-0276, 167th Professional Fire Fighters was listed as Maugansville, MD

Everyone associated with the magazine works tirelessly to ensure that our award-winning publication is perfect each time it rolls off the press. Unfortunately, that did not happen in the May-June edition.

We want to assure you that it will not happen again because we have ended the practice of naming our suspended locals. While that practice may have served a purpose in the past, we have concluded that it no longer does. We are sorry it took an error to make us understand that.
