DHS Releases FIRE Act Grant Workshop Schedule
March 9, 2010 – The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has posted the
schedule for applicant workshops for 2010 Assistance to Firefighters (FIRE Act)
grants. The schedule will be updated daily with any new/updated information
about the scheduled workshops. The IAFF encourages affiliates to work with their
fire departments to apply for FIRE Act grants, which help fund training,
equipment, protective gear and emergency vehicles.
The list is searchable by the locations of workshop as well as times and dates.
These free workshops will be held around the country to provide information
about the submission of competitive applications under the 2010 FIRE Act grants
program. The workshop lasts about two hours.
Interested representatives from fire departments are invited to attend the workshops.
Information will be presented on program changes, program priorities,
eligibility requirements and the application process. General assistance in
writing a competitive narrative for a department's grant application will also
be covered. Registration is not necessary.
While the application period has not been established, the latest information is
available
online, including an online applicant tutorial, frequently asked questions
and the FY 2010 program guidance.
The FIRE Act grant program is administered by the DHS Federal Emergency
Management Agency's (FEMA) Grants Program Directorate in coordination with the
U.S. Fire Administration. |
