Country Music Benefits IAFF |
Help
Raise Money for the IAFF Disaster Relief Fund
|
September 1, 2009 – With the anniversaries
of Hurricane Katrina and September 11, and
the wildfires heating up in California,
we're reminded not only of the dangers IAFF
members face on the job, but that they also
suffer personal losses at home as well. To
help the IAFF help members in their time of
need, BLEVE Entertainment Group, LLC is
contributing money generated by the sale and
performance of a new country music recording
to benefit the IAFF's and Fraternal Order of
Police's (FOP) disaster relief funds.
The debut single, "My First Ride," features
BLEVE recording artist Ronnie Milsap and
Capital recording artist Trace Adkins in a
fun, rocking duet. The single will be
included on a multi-artist compilation CD
available beginning November 1. |

"The
money generated from these songs will benefit our members and their families at
a time when they need it most," says IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger.
BLEVE Entertainment CEO Mickey Milam, a retired Metro Nashville police officer,
says, "I started this record label because I want to help these two great
organizations be the first on the scene for their members when they need
disaster relief."
The label will donate a significant portion of the sales for every CD, download
and concert ticket sold to the two disaster relief funds.
"We want to see this single race up the country charts," says Milam. "The more
publicity the project gets, the more revenue for the funds."
IAFF members can call their local country radio stations and request "My First
Ride." Together, the IAFF and the FOP have a combined strength of 600,000
members. "If every member calls their local radio station and requests 'My First
Ride' — and has their friends and family do the same — we could dominate the
charts," says Milam.
Contacting the stations is easy. Visit the
Bleve web site for phone numbers and emails of local country music stations
in your area.
"We hope that everyone will put their local radio station on speed dial, and
help us drive this song to the top of the charts," Milam says. Already, "My
First Ride" is one of the top five downloaded songs by radio stations in the
Unites States and Canada.
With this first single, members can request radio play or purchase a download.
"The more sales or downloads a song generates, the more radio play it receives,"
explains Milam. "We want to hit it from both ends. Our goal here is to get as
much attention to this project as possible, because that is going to put money
in the relief funds."
"My First Ride" is available on all major music sites, such as iTunes, CDBaby
and Amazon, as well as on the BLEVE Entertainment web site. The song will also
be featured on the Blair Garner Show, a nationally syndicated program airing
from midnight to 6:00 a.m.

The IAFF has been granted open access to the label's books to ensure that
contributions make their way to the Disaster Relief Fund, where they can be used
to assist members in the United States and Canada who suffer financial hardship
as the result of a federally declared disaster area or in the cases of natural
or man-made disasters such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires
or civil disturbances.
The IAFF Disaster Relief Fund has provided support to members and their families
following the September 11 attacks and Hurricanes Ivan, Katrina, Rita, Wilma, as
well as a number of other incidents. |
