Texas Fire Fighters Killed in Training Exercise
January 25, 2009 -- It is with deepest regret and sorrow that the IAFF reports
the line-of-duty deaths of two fire fighters and the serious injuries of with
two additional fire fighters with Kilgore, TX Local 2996 during a training
incident.
It has been initially reported that the fire fighters were training on a new
aerial when the bucket became lodged, and as it broke free the fire fighters
were thrown to the ground. Brothers Cory Gallaway and Kyle Perkins were killed.
Kilgore, Texas, is approximately 125 miles east of Dallas and about 70 miles
west of Shreveport, Louisiana.
The IAFF will provide further details as they become available.
