DHS Posts Workshop Schedule for 2007 FIRE Act
Grant Applications
January 25, 2007 – Beginning January 25, the Assistance to
Firefighters (FIRE Act) FY 2007 workshop
schedule is available online.
Administered by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Grants and
Training (G&T) in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration, the FIRE Act
grant program assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments throughout the
United States in funding activities including the purchase of fire fighting
equipment, personal protective equipment, training, fire fighting and EMS
vehicles and other first responder safety projects.
Each year, the Assistance to Firefighters grant program offers
hundreds of workshops nationwide to provide up-to-date grant information to
applicants. Workshops are scheduled and conducted for any fire and EMS
organization that intends to submit a 2007 grant application.
In addition, beginning in mid-February, the applicant tutorial,
the FY 2007 Program Guidance and a list of frequently asked questions will also
be available online. Potential applicants can also contact the Assistance to
Firefighters grant program help desk at (866) 274-0960 or email firegrants@dhs.gov.
These grants are available to IAFF affiliates through – and in
cooperation with – their fire department. Only fire departments may apply for
FIRE Act grants. For more information on the Assistance to Firefighters grant
program,
